To those who claim it would be impossible in Calgary for 3 software demonstrations to occur in one night without altercations…

To those who responded “looked photoshopped” when presented with David Gluzman’s photos of the event…

To my mom who keeps referring to Calgary DemoCamp attendees as “my imaginary friends”…

Just a quick reminder that BarCampCalgary #2 is tomorrow! Here’s a quick snapshot of the when/where actions:

Time: 10:30am -> 3:30pm (potential after party going super late, we’re talking 6am styles)

Where: Mt.Royal College (Map in Calgary) (Bissett School of Business)

What: Up to 4 separate tracks along with and xbox to play with

Who’s presenting: You!! Bring stuff you’d like to present, discuss, etc..

Free stuff!: Eats, drinks, and even a draw prize!

Only a few days left until BarCamp and we’d like to take a moment to thank our awesome sponsors. Cambrian House, IBM, Material Insight and Microsoft Canada are all committed to making BarCampCalgary a success. Steam Whistle Brewery is committed to making sure we don’t go thirsty during the day!

We’re working hard to make sure everything goes smoothly on the day, but of course, we’ll need some help. Be prepared to speak when you arrive at BarCamp. If you don’t end up speaking on anything, please lend a hand with setting up or taking down.

00:48	Adam Goetz from Karo needed a WordPress plugin to filter by related tags. They couldn’t find what they wanted, so they built their own. Related-Tag-Filter is open source and free. Someone owes someone a beer.
02:42	Are you a freelance designer, coder or comedian looking for some office space? Quinton Rafuse from coworkYYC is here to save you from your mother-in-law’s basement. There’s only ~5 well organized coworking spaces in Canada, so given Calgary’s ongoing need for office space coworkyyc is a welcome addition.
05:52	Arpad Barabas founded Mobizou to let retailers offer coupons to mobile users without any I.T. integration. Target specific demographics. Start and stop coupon campaigns on-the-fly. No SMS involved, all via mobile web. Because who can afford SMS in Canada anyway?
11:43	Chad Jones did not drive all the way from Saskatoon to present iUSask at DemoCampCalgary. As reprimand for this, Patrick Lor cut Chad’s demo time from 10 minutes to 5. If you’re running a university and want to better service your iPhone wielding customers, this is just the iPhone app your school needs.
16:42	Tinu Ruparell used iPhone app Eden Garden Designer to show how plants native to your region can be arranged, and previewed for all seasons. Don’t let Calgary’s long winter months crush your gardening spirit! Long… long winter months. So cold.
19:59	Brian Reimer of Evoco’s explains how with “Evoco Fuse”, context is everything. “Change management, cost control… *they’re not as sexy* as iPhone apps**.” Well Brian, only if you compare yourself to apps in the iTunes “entertainment” category, of which approximately 2 out of a zillion apps are family friendly.
26:16	Gordon McDowell demonstrates YoctoRide, an iPhone carpooling application which currently offers no carpooling functionality. And don’t call it hitchhiking!
